In 2005, the Lord called Kathy Walker to the mission field in Kenya. She serves the Lord alongside several other ladies in the BCFC Christian Academy, located in Kenya. Kathy is also gifted in music and helps teach women’s Bible classes and devotional fellowships. She also runs the Kenyan Book Shops along with other staff members in two locations – Kitale and Makutano – to supply the Kenyan people with Bibles, Christian books and other materials.
History of BCFC Christian Academy:
In 1982 Margaret Russell, a young nurse and a mid wife who had just finished her missionary training, heard of the need in Kenya, specifically regarding the training of children. The Mission Board accepted Margaret Russell, a member of Tandragee FPC (Northern Ireland) church, for service in Kenya and she arrived there in 1983.
The Missionary Council made a large investment to build the Christian Academy in Kenya, and today the Bible Christian Faith Church (BCFC) has eighteen churches. There are two Christian Bookshops connected with the work. Four Free Presbyterian missionaries now work with the BCFC.
Among other missionary initiatives in Kenya are the Kenyan bookshops. Kathy Walker, assisted by 7 members of staff (5 in Kitale and 2 in Makutano) have the responsibility of running the shops.
